Microsoft Access 2013 allows you to create a variety of data tables and forms, analyze the data, and write reports.  We offer two levels of Microsoft Access.

Microsoft Access 2013 Level 1

In this 1-day class, you will examine basic database concepts, create and modify databases, and be introduced to basic concepts of performing queries and building reports.
Previous knowledge or experience: Understanding of the basics of Windows

Overview: A relational database application such as Microsoft® Office Access® 2013 can help you and your organization collect and manage large amounts of data.  In this course, you will learn how to use Access 2013 to manage your data, including creating a new database; constructing tables; designing forms and reports; and creating queries to join, filter, and sort data.
Course Objectives: In this course, you will learn to create and manage a fundamental Access 2013 database.
You will: Navigate within the Microsoft Access application environment and create a simple database. Organize and manage data stored within Access tables. Use queries to join, sort, and filter data from different tables. Create advanced queries, including action queries and parameter queries. Create and format custom reports. Customize Access configuration options.

 Microsoft Access 2013 Level 2

In Level 2 customize reports, join tables, modify table design and field properties, share data across applications.
Overview: In this course, you will expand your knowledge of relational database design, write advanced queries, structure existing data, share data across applications, and customize reports.
Course Objectives: In this course, you will work with relational database structure, relationships, efficiency, integrity, and customization. You will:

  • Design a relational database.
  • Join tables to retrieve data from unrelated tables.
  • Organize a database for efficiency and performance, and to maintain data integrity.
  • Share data among Access and other applications.
  • Customize reports to organize the displayed information and produce specific print layouts.

Prerequisite: Microsoft Access Level 1 or equivalent knowledge.

CompuSkills Computer Training

CompuSkills is part of Colorado Free University, Denver’s premier lifelong learning center offering skill-based and enrichment classes in Denver.  The CompuSkills labs provide individual work stations for each participant.  Classes are small, so that you get lots of individual attention.  Students are able to retake classes at no charge within 6 months of the original class.  Classes must have enough newly enrolled students to meet their minimums to run and have space available.  Then students can opt in on a standby basis for the free retake.  Call Colorado  Free University at (303)399-0093 ext 0 to learn more.
